Project Black
Philosophy

Photography by Project Black

Along Bali’s golden coastlines, where salt lingers in the air and the sun dips into the horizon, Project Black has quietly redefined the rhythm of island life. This lifestyle-driven F&B collective has built more than destinations. It has built moments. From surf side mornings to fire lit dinners, from the pulse of music to the calm of connection, Project Black brings people together through experiences that feel grounded, meaningful, and alive.

Founded on the belief that great hospitality begins with connection, Project Black is the creative force behind The Lawn, Single Fin, SKOOL, Numero Quattro, and Times Beach Warung–each different, yet all bound by the same heart.

THE EXPERIENCE

Bali has long been a meeting ground for ideas, creativity, and culture. Project Black continues that legacy by designing spaces that celebrate the human connection–places where food, music, and design go hand-in-hand effortlessly with the island’s natural beauty.

Every concept is built with intention: to create a sense of belonging. Guests don’t just eat or drink–they gather, share, and remember. It’s this communal spirit that turns each venue into a living story–one that unfolds from sunrise to sundown, from cliffside gatherings to oceanfront celebrations.

Behind the scenes, every decision is rooted in consciousness. Project Black’s approach to hospitality is guided by a commitment to sustainability–one that shapes every menu, every material, and every memory created.

THE DESIGN

Each venue is built in harmony with its environment, honoring Bali’s textures, materials, and landscapes. Project Black’s design philosophy follows an eco-aesthetic approach, using natural elements like reclaimed wood, stone, and bamboo alongside open-air structures that let nature take the lead. Across all venues, single-use plastics have been eliminated, energy efficiency is prioritized, and waste is minimized through recycling and composting systems. More than just visual beauty, these details show a deeper intention: to build responsibly, celebrate craftsmanship, and preserve the spirit of the island.

THE COMMUNITY

At its core, Project Black believes that real change begins with togetherness. Through local employment, farm-to-table sourcing, and ongoing beach cleanups, the group continues to support the people and places that inspire its work. Every project partners with local artisans, farmers, and small businesses–making an ecosystem where creativity and sustainability grow side by side. Their mantra: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rethink, Refuse, Repair, guides each decision, shaping a culture of consciousness that extends far beyond the plate.

THE LAWN

At the heart of Canggu’s coastline, The Lawn is where music, sunsets, and slow living meet. From morning swims to golden-hour gatherings, it’s a place where locals and travelers connect through rhythm and movement. Behind its effortless atmosphere lies intention–The Lawn operates with a zero-plastic policy, locally sourced ingredients, and energy-efficient systems, proving that sustainability and celebration can coexist beautifully. It has grown from a humble beach bar into a global cultural touchpoint–a place where the island’s creative energy is strongest.

SINGLE FIN

High above Uluwatu’s cliffs, Single Fin stands as an icon of Bali’s surf culture–a sanctuary for free spirits, musicians, and adventurers. As waves crash below and the sky burns with color, guests gather for sunsets that turn into nights of music and connection. Beyond its view, Single Fin is deeply rooted in community and conservation, employing local staff, leading coastal cleanups, and supporting waste-reduction initiatives that protect the beaches that define it.

SKOOL

SKOOL celebrates the ancient art of cooking over fire. Every dish tells a story–of earth, heat, and time. Ingredients are locally sourced, prepared with elemental precision, and presented with honesty. Built on a farm-to-table philosophy and minimal waste operations, SKOOL invites guests to return to the essentials, to taste simplicity, to respect nature, and to reconnect with the origins of flavor.

NUMERO QUATTRO:

Numero Quattro blends Mediterranean sensibility with Bali’s warmth and abundance. The menu is bright and seasonal, championing locally grown produce and the art of uncomplicated, soulful dining. From handmade pasta to crisp seafood dishes, every detail–from tableware to textures–reflects Project Black’s belief in thoughtful sourcing and timeless design.

TIMES BEACH WARUNG

Times is an ode to easy mornings and simple pleasures. Perched along the beach, it serves locally roasted coffee and nourishing dishes made with ingredients from nearby farms. Here, sustainability feels natural and part of the rhythm of daily life. With the ocean as backdrop, Times captures the beauty of Bali’s mornings: calm, connected, and completely unhurried.

THE FUTURE

For Project Black, the future of hospitality is intentional, inclusive, and regenerative. Through conscious design, local collaboration, and deep respect for nature, the group continues to shape a new narrative for island living–one that honors community, creativity, and coastline. From the cliffs of Uluwatu to the shores of Canggu, Project Black remains what it has always been: A celebration of connection–to people, to place, and to purpose.
