A comfort beyond the senses that permeates from hand to soul. Cisco & the Sun products are made in Bali by local artisans who apply a methodology of ceramic making that is unique to Sapporo, Japan. Mixing both Asian and Western sensibilities, the pieces are crafted by the sixth sense, or what the Japanese refer to as "wabi sabi".

The sustainability of ceramics depends largely on the processes of the studio and the materials used. All Cisco & the Sun pieces are crafted with pure substances sourced directly from the earth, such as raw clay from the mountains of Bali.
Cisco & the Sun works with 3 different types of clay, each of which is sourced from the mineral rich regions of Bali. The clays are enriched with naturally derived nutrients and metallic oxides, which evolve into a spectacular spectrum of colours during our unique "reduction" firing process. This technique draws on ancient crafting techniques to create organically beautiful, long-lasting finishes.
Enriched with natural minerals and metallic oxides, these elements are complimented by non-toxic, low impact glazes, or are left unadulterated with no glaze at all. The kilns used produce a dynamic energy and are highly insulated, allowing a sustainable low-firing process that still ensures the highest durability and quality.
Being handmade, slight variances may exist within each item, giving uniqueness to glaze, size, texture and weight. These variations add depth and beauty to the ceramic craft, signifying their spirit and dissimilarity to the mass produced. The naturally mined substances and firing process make these products food safe and non-toxic, as well as microwave, dishwasher, and oven friendly.
"Many of our ceramic pieces are paired with golden teak wood from the island of Java; a species of wood which grows over 130 feet and is native to south and southeast Asia. Due to its high oil content it is one of the most durable types of wood available, resilient to usual cracks and aging and set to last you a lifetime."
Cisco & the Sun uses locally sourced, recycled materials to package the ceramics, and only orders the minimum requirement to match each order.
Cisco & the Sun works directly with suppliers and workers in Bali, providing jobs to the local community and helping to preserve the craftsmanship that has been developed here for many years.
