The Seed Bali

Genuinely Sustainable Design

Sustainability is embedded into the very structure of The Seed. The estate was built using repurposed wood, stone, and upcycled metal fixtures, carefully selected to minimise environmental impact. Architectural choices prioritise energy efficiency through natural light, cross-ventilation, and open-plan living, reducing reliance on artificial cooling and non-renewable resources.

Water, Energy & Closed-Loop Systems

The Seed operates with a comprehensive water and energy system designed to protect local ecosystems. Solar panels provide renewable energy, while a rainwater catchment system and state-of-the-art reverse osmosis filtration ensure clean, safe water throughout the property. A dedicated well channels purified water back into underground aquifers, creating a closed-loop system that helps replenish water reserves and supports long-term environmental resilience.

Waste, Biodiversity & Regeneration

Organic waste from the kitchens is composted and returned to The Seed’s gardens, which supply fresh ingredients for guest dining. Non-organic materials are recycled in partnership with Trash Hero Bali. The property avoids harmful pesticides and fertilisers, encouraging biodiversity and creating an environment where insects and wildlife can naturally thrive.

Architecture & Craftsmanship

The estate consists of four uniquely designed villas with eight bedrooms in total, including children’s bunk rooms and optional staff accommodation. Each villa has its own character and expansive open-plan living spaces, all crafted using recycled wood. Construction was carried out by local artisans and craftspeople, including bamboo specialists Asali Bali, who designed and built the restaurant structure.

Community & Education

Local collaboration extends beyond construction. The Seed actively engages with the surrounding community through education initiatives and workshops that foster environmental awareness. By sharing knowledge and hosting learning experiences, the team aims to inspire a broader shift toward more sustainable lifestyles, ensuring that impact extends beyond the property itself.
