Ozero Swimwear is an eco-brand of premium minimal swimwear. It was founded and is designed by a Russian model Elena Cheurina based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Living and working as a model, mostly in tropical countries, for the past 10 years, Elena got inspired by designers she worked with, how much passion and love they put into their creations. Eventually, she decided to start her own brand suitable for the life in tropics - Ozero Swimwear.
“Ozero” is a transliteration of the Russian word "оzеро", which means "lake" in English. That's why each swimwear style in the collection got its name from the lakes in Russia and around the world: Baikal, Ladoga, Rotorua, Malawi, Como etc.
Fabrics. All Ozero Swimwear pieces are made using ECONYL, a regenerated nylon fiber made from rescued plastic waste like fishing nets and industrial plastic. At the same time, this fabric is impressively comfortable and durable. It has superior resistance to degradation from chlorine, creams, and sun oils, so it will stand the test of time if treated right.
Packaging. Our brand is trying to avoid the use of plastic in the packaging. All our retail pieces are packed in cotton bags, that can be used for storing swimsuits from Ozero Swimwear or reused for any other purposes. Our bulk production from the factory is delivered in 100% biodegradable bags. We try to use the minimum amount of packaging required to protect the product. At the moment we are looking for more sustainable delivery packages as well.
Design. We focus on the product, its quality, wear ability, and practicality. We are trying to create timeless pieces that won't come out of fashion easily and can be styled in multiple ways.
Social act. We carefully choose the factories we are working with. All employees at the factories are paid over the minimum wage and provided with good working conditions. One of our factories in Bali helps to clean up the ocean by donation 10% from every bikini made to Bali's ROLE Foundation. This foundation runs a zero-waste facility and environmental development programs in Bali. Their vision supports zero waste to the ocean, sustainable business for coastal communities, and women's business and development.
